God of War Funko Pops Hitting Stores Next Year

God of War is coming to Funko. To be released in March of next year, we are getting a wave of Pops in support of the highly anticipated game being released around then. Curiously, there are no exclusives to be seen, which is a rarity. Although there are some bigger conventions between now and then, so the possibility of there being some is not zero. For now, fans will only have to track down four.

Funko is excited to announce a new series of Pop! vinyl
for the upcoming video game God of War
from Santa Monica Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment!

This series includes fearsome enemies Draugr and Fire Troll,
and father and son duo, Kratos and Atreus!

Obviously, the main draw here is Kratos. They could make as many variations as they want of him and they would sell no matter what. He almost looks like he’s smiling there, doesn’t he? His son Atreus is the most basic-looking of the four; though I do like the subtle battle scars on his face. They give a pretty plain-looking Pop more character.

The two standouts are the creatures. Look at that Draugr sculpt! That head is ridiculous; I would buy it just based on that. What a unique piece. And I am completely shocked that the Fire Troll is not a deluxe six-inch Pop. It even looks bigger just standing there. That may be an early contender for Pop of the Year once we can get our hands on it. So much detail and care went into that sculpt. Bravo, Funko. Bravo.

These again will be available everywhere starting around March 2018. You can preorder them right here now, if you would like. Also, just because it looks incredible and I can’t wait to play it, here is the trailer for the game:

The Weekly Static s01e16: Fake News, Fairy Tales, and FTWD

harley quinn animated series and more TV news

It’s the weekend, kids! Time to spill out on the streets of stars and ride away. Try to find out what you are, face to face. And once you’ve had enough? Carry on, but don’t forget to love…The Weekly Static!

But before we go any further, you should know why it is I’ve gathered all of you together this evening. There is a murderer on the loose, ladies and gentlemen…and that person is in this room with us at this very moment.

Isn’t that right…

weekly static s01e09

With props to Kings of Leon and a song meant to be played before, during and after doing something incredibly f’n profound, here’s a personalized cheat sheet on what this is all about: The Weekly Static is my righteously desperate-yet-endearing attempt at finding the lighter side and an interesting perspective on the past week in the land of the networks, cable, streaming, smoke signals, cloud formations, and shadow puppets.

Our goal? Pretty simple:

● Offer a blunt, honest perspective on a handful of random TV news posts from the past week that also highlights your relentless team of news-thirsty Bleeding Cool writers and the quality work they do.

● Spotlight a news item we missed, but we’re pretty damn sure you’ll find it interesting.

● Feed my insatiable ego with humble offerings of praise, adulation, social media shares, pizza, Superman Funkos, and a plethora of Eisner Award nominations. And at least one write-in vote in the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election (and I wish I was joking about that one).

Syfy Launches Augmented Reality App to Promote ‘Happy!’ (EXCLUSIVE)

weekly static s01e16 tv recap

“Ever wanted to know what it feels like to live with wondrous creatures that no one else can see? Then Syfy has the right show for you, and an augmented reality app to boot.

‘Happy!,’ which premieres on Syfy on December 6, is all about a cynical hit man who one day starts seeing a relentlessly optimistic winged unicorn, aptly named Happy.

‘Happy!,’ the augmented reality (AR) app, brings that same unicorn to your living room, ready to answer all of your questions, perform a bunch of tricks and — spoiler alert — defecate on your carpet. But it’s not as bad as it sounds, because naturally, unicorns don’t do turds.

The ‘Happy!’ AR app has been built by Syfy’s digital arm, and was released for iPhone and Android Wednesday. It features the voice of Patton Oswalt, who also voices Happy in the show…”

What’s In The Box?!: Loot Gaming – November 2017

Tis’ the season for subscriptions boxes as possible gifts, and if you’re looking for something specifically for a gamer, Loot Gaming usually has something cool to check out. This month we got a little something different than the norm which has all sorts of cool stuff inside.

First item up is these Dungeons & Dragons playing cards. These are a 54 card deck, which is your standard playing cards of 52, as well as two Joker cards. Each one of them uses a different creature or monster as part of the artwork for the card, with every suit having their own kind of theme happening within it. This is a nice little addition to your collection of gaming collection for the nights when your crew just wants to play a little poker.

Next up is the Lords Of The Deadra book, which is basically a small addition of information from Skyrim. This is a bit bigger than a pocketbook, but the contents basically have character and world descriptions from the world that Skyrim is set in. Nothing too fancy here, it’s a nice little reference guide with illustrations that can enhance the game for players, no secret information to be shared that you don’t already know or find out quickly in the game. Just a nice reference book.

Next up we move into the game DOOM, which has a few different items in the box. The first are these shot glasses that are designed to look like shotgun shells. These things are absolutely awesome as they’re your standard shot glass size, just brought up a bit to match the look and feel of a shell. The gold around the bottom and the DOOM logo on the side make all the difference so you know when you need to pound two, you can take a double barrel in style.

Keeping with DOOM, the pin inside the game is a 50 Calibur Bullet pin. I’m not entirely sure why this pin says October 2017, probably a misprint, but it definitely matches the one for November’s package. The pin itself is of great quality enamel and feels like the real end of a bullet, just enlarged. Not sure who would exactly wear this one as a pin, but it looks great!

Probably the best item int he box was the surprise Funko Pop figure we got of the Space Marine from DOOM. I get why they added eyes to the figure as that you recognize it as a Funko item, but at the same time, a lot of the games where you see the soldier wearing the helmet, you can’t see his eyes unless you’re looking at the health meter in the game, so this was just weird. Beyond that, he looks to a tee the replica of the current marine inside the DOOM series. It was an awesome addition to find in this month’s box.

The last DOOM related item was a full poster of the current game. This one looks incredible as it shows off a classic look from DOOM married to the current art style of the game. But like all Loot Gaming boxes, the drawback to this one is the fact that it’s folded up. Still waiting for the day when they send them rolled up.

Finally, the make or break item: the t-shirt. This month we got a Diablo t-shirt, made to look like the Motörhead logo. This was an absolute treat to have as I have actually played Diablo II to the sound of “Ace Of Spades”. I was instantly in love with this shirt the minute it popped out and have been proudly wearing it when I can. This was an absolute winner!

Overall, the November Loot Gaming box was amazing! No complaints beyond the issues with the poster, everything inside appealed to me as a gamer across several titles and there really wasn’t a losing item inside the box. Well done, Loot Crate! I can’t wait to see what Decemebr has in store.

Lord of the Rings Funko Pops Wave 2- Gollum, Treebeard, and more!

Lord of the Rings had its Funko debut earlier this year. In February next year, the journey continues. Not only are we getting a huge new wave of Pops, but Mystery Minis as well. The requisite exclusives and such will be available in stores as well.

Funko Lord of the Rings Mystery Minis

The future of civilization rests in the fate
of the One Ring, which has been lost for centuries!
When young Frodo Baggins inherits the Ring,
he steps into legend as he journeys with the
Fellowship of the Ring to destroy it once and for all.

Until the Ring is destroyed Funko is excited to
introduce several characters from The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
now as Mystery Minis and unveil a new series of Pop!

These Mystery Minis are some of the most impressive to date. Just like the Star Wars ones, all of the sculpts look very detailed and perfect for the style. As far as exclusives go- you can find the Witch-King of Angmar, Lurtz,
and Eowyn at Hot Topic. Barnes and Noble get Galadriel (Glow), Frodo Baggins (Clear), and Gimli (Gold). I am happy that those are just color variants for the most part. I can ignore those.

Funko Lord of the Rings Pops and Exclusives

All sorts of fan-favorites are here in wave 2. Three different versions of Gollum are coming, including a standard chase with him holding a fish and a transparent version at Barnes and Noble. Nobel Aragorn gets two as well, with him as king exclusive to Toys R Us. The two best Hobbits (sorry not sorry) Merry and Pippin are here, as is the sinister Lurtz. For me though, the best figure revealed is the deluxe Pop of Treebeard. What a fantastic looking Pop.

The Mystery Minis will be in stores in January, with the Pops following in February. You can preorder them here now.
