Hall of Justice Fun(ko)

One of the great things about the Funko Pop item Hall of Justice is that it is in the wrong scale for normal size Pop figures.  Wait you say.  What? Yes, one of the great things is that it is not in scale.  Why? Because this invites trying it out with other items.  Imaginext.  Imaginext Lego (custom or official). LegoHeroClix.  HeroClix Whatever set those Hawks are from.  Hawks Vinyl And being the scale it is allows for recreation of a classic scene from the Super-Friends, the Giants of Doom.  Or the Giants of Justice.  Or Both. Giants Of JusticeThank you, Funko.  This may just be one of the greatest pieces of background ever created.

It Only Costs $60 To Be a Free Comic Book Day Shop

Last week Rod Lamberti of Rodman Comics outlined reasons as to why his store wouldn’t be participating in Free Comic Book Day this year. But how much of a cost and commitment is it? Well, to be a listed participant and receive the publicity benefits that come with being a Free Comic Book Day store, each shop has to have a minimum order of twenty copies each of the top twelve Free Comic Book Day so-called ‘Gold’ titles. That’s 240 copies in total, to be given away on the first Saturday in May, at a cost to the retailer of 25 cents each, or $60 plus shipping. International accounts will have high costs. And of course most stores will want to order more than the minimum, and of the thirty-six other Silver titles, but it does give a base level as to how affordable FCBD participation can be.

Participants will also qualify for the following:

Free stuff: FCBD 2020 promotional poster, window cling, and shelf talkers – 24″ x 36″ poster, promoting the FCBD Gold titles for 2020 and featuring a store imprint area to put more of your event details. You’ll can also order a free window cling and two shelf talkers to promote your store as an official destination for FCBD.

Free listing on the FCBD Store Locator on www.freecomicbookday.com. This locator functions just like the Comic Shop Locator Service (CSLS) and will allow interested consumers and fans to find you quickly and easily. Those already on CSLS will see their profile automatically be shown to visitors at www.freecomicbookday.com and you can add your store’s specific FCBD event details.

Delayed billing as all North American FCBD stores will see their payment split and delayed to as to help with cash flow.

Early delivery because Free Comic Book Day titles will be packed with weekly shipments of April 8th or April 15th, giving retailers more time to prepare for your FCBD event.

Stuff to sell as while the comics are given away for free, participating retailers will have Emma Frost statues, Spider-Vrse pins and Funko Pop mystery boxes stuff to order, exclusively to them, as well as the FCBD 2020 Commemorative Artist T-shirt and Poster featuring Jeffrey Brown art.

Promotion opportunities as FCBD comics are designed for store’s to put their contact details stamps on either the front or back cover, so that FCBD titles can be used as promotional items forever. Or until a store changes its location/name/purpose in life.

Media stuff as stores can download postcards, web ads,  social posts, profile pics and other tools for promoting the event, plus a customizable press release to send to local media to gain coverage and exposure.

All storefront businesses who are in good standing are eligible to participate and each must agree to provide at least one FCBD title for free to customers and patrons on May 2, 2020, with no purchase required. After that, it’s up to each store how they monetise them. But they can’t be sold for cold hard cash until after Free Comic Book Day…
