BC Toy Spotting: Marvel Legends, WWE, Transformers, Captain Marvel, and More!

Welcome to the latest edition of BC Toy Spotting! We are in and out of stores pretty much every day, and we figure (ha!) why not show all of our fellow collectors what we are coming across on pegs and shelves. As collectors, we know that staying on top of what is in stores can be almost a full time job, so we are here to help you with your toy hunts and outings. This week lots of stores did their big toy resets and stocked the pegs full of new Marvel Legends waves, Funko Pops, WWE, Transformers, and more. Let’s dive in shall we?

Funko as always put out tons more new product this week, as Captain Marvel, Lion King, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Naruto, Rick and Morty, a Jim Lee Batman: Hush Gamestop exclusive, and El Chapulin Colorado all hit stores. Captain Marvel is flying out of stores right now, so grab them while you can!

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World toys have popped up at Target, as plush, deluxe figures, human/dragon two-packs, and more are filling the pegs.

Star Wars fans can now find the Archive Collection Black Series reissues, along with the first wave of Resistance figures. That Yeager figure is sweet!

NECA’s Bride of Chucky two pack can be found at Target.

The Jurassic World line keeps chugging along with Dino Rivals and hatching T-Rex hitting stores.

New Marvel Legends waves are hitting in full force right now. The new Spider-Man wave, Black Panther wave, and the Luke Cage two-pack are all hitting Gamestops, Walmarts, and Targets right now.

WWE fans can keep an eye out for the newest wave of Retros, while the new slam mobile car playset and Braun Stroman are popping up at Target.

The new wave of Mega Construx mini figures are hitting Walmarts right now, including Masters of the Universe, Hellboy, and more. A five-pack of MOTU figures previously released can also be found.

Finally, Transformers fans are gobbling up the new War for Cybertron: Siege line, as these disappear as fast as they are put out. Also hitting Walmarts is their exclusive G1 reissue of Optimus Prime. No trailer though!

Kelly Sue DeConnick Says Captain Marvel’s Cat Goose is Female!

One of the interesting changes coming in Marvel Studios’ upcoming Captain Marvel film is the name difference of Carol Danvers’ cat. In the comics, the cat’s name is Chewy (after Chewbacca, of course), but in the film, the feline will have a new name.

As revealed through some of the early merchandise for the Marvel Cinematic Universe addition (and a screenshot from the first trailer), we know Carol’s cat will be named Goose.

The theory, of course, is that the cat carries that moniker after Anthony Edwards Top Gun character, Goose, since Carol is a pilot.

Captain Marvel comic writer Kelly Sue DeConnick just confirmed another interesting factoid about Goose, one that we weren’t expecting.  When asked by our friends over at Captain Marvel News on Twitter about Goose’s gender, DeConnick responded:

We’re looking forward to seeing what hijinks Goose gets up to when Captain Marvel hits theaters on March 8th, 2019.

Captain Marvel Has Two Of the Coolest Funko Pops Released Lately

Captain Marvel figures and merchandise is hitting full throttle right now, and Funko is right there of course to bring us all of the Carol Danvers we can handle. A full wave of Pops is in stores now, including many versions of Carol, Goose, Nick Fury, Maria Rambeau, and others from the upcoming MCU film. There are plenty of exclusives as well. We got our hands on the regular version, along with the chase variant. Let’s take a look at them shall we?

While the box never changes, the design work does. The blues and reds really make the box easy on the eyes. The regular releases are listed on the back of course, although I never understand why sometimes Funko will list the full wave plus exclusives and such and sometimes they don’t.

First up is the regular Captain Marvel figure. I really do love the suit design for the film, and Funko nailed it. No paint splotching or bleed anywhere, and no weird stray black paint either. Some figures lately have had little black splotches all over them, it has been strange. Carol does not however, although with her big hair piece and being a bobblehead you need to use the included stand to get her to stay upright.

The cooler and way easier to stand chase version features Carol in her helmet with one of Marvel’s best-looking mohawks on full display. This is one of the most badass Pops in some time. While both versions have their good points, this chase takes the cake as the must-own of the whole wave. I just hope we get a ton of her in the helmet in the film.

Both of these are worthy of purchase, but if you can track it down get the chase. They will dry up fast and you don’t want to pay secondary market price, no matter what it ends up being. If you want to try your luck, you can order here and who knows? Maybe you will get one.
