ThinkGeek Assures Us at SDCC That They are Here to Stay

ThinkGeek has recently gone through some crazy times, with their popular web store being shutdown and merged with GamStop’s. Rumors run crazy sometimes, and one of them is that they are going away completely and closing all their stores and that it is all doom and gloom. You wouldn’t know it from visiting their SDCC booth on the show floor however. If you are here at SDCC, you need to get over there.

ThinkGeek is not closing all of their stores. As a matter of fact we were told at their booth that none of them are. And while the website is gone, aside from a few items everything they sold before is still for sale on the GameStop website. So everyone relax. It was certainly nice to hear that. ThinkGeek also has some great exclusives this year at their booth as always. That includes their Bag of Holding patch, so go get one for free!

Also for free, if you go to the ThinkGeek social media, there are secret phrases daily you can say at the booth for a free button. I witnessed it first hand, and it was pretty neat! As a button and pin freak, this is one of the best booths on the floor. They have some awesome, very limited pins celebrating various pop culture properties anniversaries. TMNT, Ghostbusters, Dark Crystal, Farscape, even Plan 9 From Outer Space!

Other exclusives include a Beast Kingdom Phoenix figure, a Mego Star Trek Spock figure with swappable Mirror Universe Spock parts, and multiple Funko ThinkGeek exclusives, including the Office Space poster guy.

Check a couple of these out below, and if you are at the show, make it a point to swing by there and show them support. Especially if you enjoy the pins, because those are not going to last very long. (Booth #3349)

SDCC Exclusive Gold “Land Of The Lost” Funko PEZ Dispenser Just Sold for $1500 on eBay

Well, that’s one way to pay for your trip to San Diego Comic-Con 2019.

Sleestaks are creatures from the Land Of The Lost TV series from the seventies. And Funko POP and PEZ and combined their mutual collectable forced for a line of merchandise that, for San Diego Comic-Con, included Funko POP Pez Sleestaks, gold-coloured and limited to just 100 units, and exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con 2019.

Well, five lucky collectors also got the chance to get theirs signed by Funko CCO Brian Mariotti.

And one of them has just sold their signed Pez Sleestak Gold Funko on eBay for $1500. Even with minor package damage

However it is worth noting that a second of the five is also on eBay, with a starting point of $1000... what a bargain. No package damage either…

Apart from that bloke Brian scrawling all over it obviously.

ThinkGeek “Jay And Silent Bob Strikes Back” Ticket Give Away

Preview Night is not so exclusive any longer, but still one of the best ways to enjoy the Leviathan that is SDCC 2019. My first stop on this already crowded tour of the showroom floor is the Thinkgeek located at booth #3349. The big news here is that  is collaborating with the stars of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes, for a Comic Con movie screening. In partnership with The Pop Insider and Legion M, this July 20th event will be hosted at the Theatre Box San Diego during Comic-Con International: San Diego and feature a special in-person intro from Smith and Mewes. The historic event will only be open to attendees  who purchase exclusive Mooby’s-themed products directly from ThinkGeek’s booth, #3349, inside the Comic-Con 2019 Exhibit Hall. 

 ThinkGeek has created some exclusive comic con merchandise for this event, and these are the 2 pieces that you need to buy. Fans can choose between a pack of 2 different “Mooby” movie decals or you can buy the “Mooby” lanyard and pin set- you do not need to purchase booth. The first 70 people that purchase one these (decal or pin set) get a VIP  wristband that guarantees them admission into the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back screening at the Chinese Theater. After that you get a standby wristband, first come first serve. Staff will limit the number of wristbands each day to give everyone a fair chance.

 Everybody loves the annual  ThinkGeek pins. Each pin is numbered (on the back) limited edition. There is one commemorating The Dark Crystal, and also a set of 3 beautiful Star Trek pins, each pin commemorating a different series-  – we are anticipating selling out of these gorgeous collectables, so another reason to stop by Booth #3349

 

Also expected to sell out here is the Funko “Sticky Note Guy” from the cult classic Office Space movie poster, Agin, Exclusive to Think Geek.

Stranger Things Backpack- I just finished season 3 on the plane ride here, so i am jazzed about this backpack featuring the staff of one of the central locations of the season- Scoops Ahoy. 

Ghostbusters gift pack has a Ghostbusters shirt, and a Funko ( who) all packaged together in an “Ecto-Containment (Ghost trap) unit. 

The Dark Crytal’s Fizzgig is a 1:1 scale, highly detailed, little puppet furball you can take home and snuggle up with while you watch the new series on Netflix.
