Disney+ Adds In July: Hamilton, Solo, The Mighty Ducks, And More

Disney+ will add some big deal content in July, from Disney fan-favorites to brand new originals. The biggest of the big of course is the addition of Hamilton, a broadcast of the original cast on stage performing the smash hit musical by Lin-Manuel Miranda. That hits the service July 3rd. Also coming to the service are films like The Mighty Ducks, Ice Age: Collision Course, and Solo: A Star Wars Story. That addition means that all live action and animated Star Wars content is now available on Disney+. New originals debuting include Muppets Now, new episodes of Pixar in Real Life, and One Day at Disney. Check out the full list below.

Baby Yoda took over the world last fall after debuting in The Mandalorian. The toys were an instant sellout, the character became one of the most-shared memes on social media, and is just the most adorable thing ever. Lucasfilm understands our insatiable need for content featuring "The Child." With that in mind, and during the times we are all going through, they have posted a neat little video tutorial on their Star Wars Kids YouTube page on how to draw Baby Yoda. The video goes step by step to show you how to draw and color the character to hang all over your home. Check it out below.

Baby Yoda Art Is The Best Art

"The Child from The Mandalorian has stolen hearts all over the galaxy, and Sara teaches you how to draw your very own! Cuddle up with some bone broth and a soft robe and learn to draw the adorable baby." Baby Yoda has indeed stolen hearts, that is for sure. Boy did Lucasfilm need something like "The Child" as well. After the divisive nature of the sequel trilogy of films, The Mandalorian was universally loved by all Star Wars fans. No matter how you felt about the new movies, it cannot be denied that they caused a fragment in the fandom that many, myself included, didn't think could be repaired. That all changed when Dyn Djarin opened up that cradle, and Baby Yoda was lying there. For the next eight weeks and since every appearance of the character helped unite the fandom.

Toys Are Starting To Hit As Well

The figures and plush from various companies are starting to hit stores and online retailers as well. Baby Yoda interactive figures and plush in al shapes and sizes have been popping up in stores over the weekend, and are sure to fly off shelves as fast as they are put on them, even in this environment. Earlier this year, the Funko POP vinyl figure hit stores like Hot Topic and sold out in minutes. Hasbro has the first figure coming to retail any day now. If you like Baby Yoda, now is the time to grab one if you can.

Disney "Dapper Dans" Bring Us A Little Disney Magic at Home

Disney fans: I feel you. Almost on an hourly basis, I think about the Parks. While I have never been to Disneyland, I have been to Disney World on multiple occasions, and life is basically just passing the time until I can get back again. The snacks, the rides, the magic. Yes, magic. Disney magic is real ladies and gentlemen, and I am a believer. One of the best parts of the Parks are the Dapper Dans, a barber shop quartet that entertains the masses in Magic Kingdom right on Main Street. Always a Disney favorite, they are a part of any trip and even have a set of their very own Funko POPS.

As if they knew we needed it, the Dapper Dans have come together to perform on the Disney Parks YouTube channel, singing us "When You Wish Upon a Star":

Let's Take a Look at Funko's 'The Mandalorian' Baby Yoda POP!

Baby Yoda. The Child. Whatever name you want to use, merch of the instant fan-favorite character from the Disney+ Star Wars show The Mandalorian has been highly anticipated. Most of the figures and plushes have sold out on preorder, and with the Coronavirus wreaking havoc across the globe, who knows when we will be able to get our hands on most of it. Funko has even said the Baby Yoda is their highest selling POP of all-time, before it even shipped to stores. Luckily for fans, that day is today. Some Hot Topics and other e-tailers have received their supply, and we got our hands on one. So, let's look at the Baby Yoda POP, and see why it is one of the better ones ever made.

Right away, this one feels different for being housed in a sideways box. Funko has done these before, most notably for Sexy Jeff Goldblum. For in box collectors, Baby Yoda will test your patience, as it won't look uniform on your display. Unlike other POPS though, because of the sideways packaging, the window box shows off the entire figure. It makes it feel special, which he is.

Look at him out of the box! The giant ears, the giant, high collar. The tiny arms sticking out. And those big eyes! This is a perfect figure of Baby Yoda. Striking his little Force pose, when I held it the first time, I couldn't stop staring at it. Even better is that the paint job on this one is perfect.

Yes, this is a must-own. The hype is real people. As stated, Hot Topic stores are receiving limited quantities right now, and online preorders are shipping. Be on the lookout!

Funko Knocks Their ECCC D&D Gelatinous Cube Out of the Park

Funko was put in a bind like most these last couple weeks, as they prepared for Emerald City Comic Con. Like every other con right now, it was canceled. Not letting that stop them, Funko has been holding a virtual con the last couple days, all leading to the release of their ECCC exclusives on their webstore and shared stores. One of those exclusives will be quite familiar to all of us Dungeons and Dragons fans- the Gelatinous Cube. Described as "a ten-foot cube of transparent gelatinous ooze, which is able to absorb and digest organic matter", it is either the best D&D monster or the worst. The people who think it is the worst are wrong though, and that Funko made one is fantastic. It is a shared exclusive with Gamestop, and we managed to get one today.

It is a little sad to see the Funko con sticker on these and know that it never took place. Nevertheless, this is the forth D&D POP made so far, and a good reminder that I still need to pick up the Mind Flayer, Minsc & Boo, and Asmodeus at some point.

Then, you take it out, and realize that this may be one of the best POPS of all-time. It is just so perfect. Translucent green plastic, that houses an unfortunate soul inside, down to his skull, shield, and sword. I love that Funko put the head on a spike so it looks like it is floating. It just look so gnarly and exactly like I would want a real Gelatinous Cube to look like. In my playing, my group has never encountered one, but hopefully I can DM some day and include it.

What a wonderful treat for D&D and role-playing fans. Thank you Funko, this put a smile on my face for sure, at a time when it was very much needed. Sold out on their webstore, you could still find it at Gamestops. Hurry though.

BC Toy Spotting: MOTU WWE, Funko, McFarlane DC, and More!

Welcome to the latest edition of BC Toy Spotting! We are in and out of stores pretty much every day, and we figure (ha!) why not show all of our fellow collectors what we are coming across on pegs and shelves. As collectors, we know that staying on top of what is in stores can be almost a full time job, so we are here to help you with your toy hunts and outings. It has bene quite awhile since the last installment, but we are back! There have been a lot of bog releases happening, and we are here to help keep track of the latest Marvel Legends, NECA, Transformers, McFarlane Toys, Funko, WWE, Star Wars, and more new releases! Let’s dive in!

First up is the new Scooby-Doo line from Playmobil. Blind bag figures, a Scooby/Shaggy two-pack, and the Mystery Machine are all available at Walmart.

New form NECA right now are the latest wave of TMNT 1990 film figures. This wave includes Shredder, Splinter, and two variations of the Foot Clan. The Terminator and Sarah Conner figures from the latest film are everywhere, along with Shin Godzilla!

A new line of Pixar toys can be found at both Walmart and Target.

A new line of Joker Pranks toys can be found in the figure aisle with all the new DC product out. What a great idea for a line!

The new McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse line is hitting hard right now, including the BAF Batmobile mini-line with The Batman Who Laughs, Batgirl, and Nightwing. Their Bloodshot figure from the upcoming film starring Vin Diesel is also in stores. Seeing these next to Marvel Legends on the pegs warms my heart.

New Funko in stores include a 10 inch Coke bear, a snapping Thanos comic verison POP, The Good Place, live Action Mulan, Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison POPS, “Mean” Gene from the WWE, and Wynonna Earp.

The first wave of WWE Masters of the Universe figures from Mattel are in Walmarts, and they are awesome. Look for wave 2 soon.

Transformers fans can add the first wave of Super7’s ReAction figures to their collections, along with new Cyberverse figures.

Mega Construx collectors can get new Aliens slime eggs that come with a figure inside, and the new wave of MOTU mini-figures. Walmarts are getting these awesome Iron Giant and Forbidden Planet walking electronic robots for only $20!

What looks like it will be the final wave of Rise of the TMNT figures is hitting pegs now, mostly at Walmart.

Marvel Legends collectors can still find the new fantastic Four and Spider-Man waves around everywhere right now.

Finally, the One:12 Collective Cable is in stores after a lengthy wait. Looks like it might have been worth it!
