Fraggle Rock Funko Pops Push The Nostalgia Button

Fraggle Rock holds a special place in people’s hearts. Especially people who grew up in the 1980’s. It is actually pretty adorable how much people enjoy that show. In recent years we have gotten comics, action figures, and other various pieces of merchandise. I was actually shocked that there was not already Funko Pops in existence. I swear I remember them coming out when the Sesame Street ones did, but I guess not.

Funko is excited to introduce Jim Henson’s
Fraggle Rock coming to Pop! vinyl this winter!

This series features the Fraggles, the short,
furry creatures who live in a network of magical caves!
Including Boober wearing his brown cap and scarf, the explorer Gobo,
and Mokey the dreamer, the oldest of the Fraggle Five.

Completing the series is the athletic and energetic Red,
also Wembley wearing his palm tree shirt.

Each Fraggle comes complete with their own
Doozer – the creatures who love to work all day long.

Each and every one of these is adorable. They all come with a little mini Doozer as well. Genius move that one. Of all of these the must own for me is Boober, they really nailed that hat and hair combo there. Wembley also looks great. His shirt has great detail on it.

Fraggle Rock Funko Pop Exclusives

Exclusives are part of every Funko Pop wave. This one is no different. A flocked Red can be found at Books A Million. And Sprocket only sees release at Toys R Us. That is a little strange. You always hope that the exclusives will be variations and not whole new characters. I would think people getting these Fraggle Rock Pops would want a Sprocket. TRU exclusives usually are not too difficult to find though so you should be ok.

Demogorgon Fan? Stranger Things Fan? Check Out This McFarlane Figure!

The demogorgon is a pretty terrifying villain. Stranger Things certainly upped the creep-factor this year (no spoilers don’t worry), but it would always be hard to top the horror of the first season’s big bad monster. While we have gotten some demogorgon stuff released, nothing has really blown me away. The Funko Pops were pretty cool. The 3.75 inch action figure has a great sculpt, but the design flaws don’t allow it to stand very well.

From a parallel universe known as the Upsidedown, the monster that was soon nicknamed the Demogorgon by the young group of friends,  it travels between two worlds wreaking havoc in it’s own world as well as in the town of Hawkins, Indiana.

Now this is more like it. The demogorgon will join other announced figures Hopper, Eleven, Dustin, and Lucas. Everything will be in scale with each other. They will all also come on vintage-style cards. As with all other McFarlane Toys figures, the sculpt looks fantastic and most importantly the paint aps on the open mouth look perfect. Hopefully that foot articulation has strong joints so the figure has no trouble standing. Too often that seems to be the case. But since it comes with a figure stand i guess it is a moot point for most.

This figure will be hitting shelves in February. Hopper and Eleven are due to hit stores anytime now. This one is a deluxe 10 inch figure, however, and will run $34.99 instead of $19.99. As a huge fan, they got my money here already. But maybe pick up Hopper or Eleven first and see if you like it. You can preorder one here.

Stan Lee’s Latest Cameo Is On The Rock’s Instagram

Up Close And Personal With WWE’s Finest At Ringside Fest 2017

If you’re into collecting action figures, you’ve no doubt heard about Ringside Fest. If you haven’t, the website’s “about” section sums it up better than I could:

“Ringside Fest began in 2004 by Ringside Collectibles, the number one on-line retailer of wrestling action figures! Ringside Fest is a way for wrestling figure collectors to meet their favorite WWE Superstars and Divas and see the latest Mattel WWE Action Figures coming out in the future. At Ringside Fest WWE Figure Collectors have a rare opportunity to meet the designers of their favorite action figures!”

This year’s guest lineup included Big Cass, Braun Strowman, Alexa Bliss, and Finn Balor. I bet you can guess which of those enticed me to go.

Action figures were a big deal here, but let’s be real. Almost everyone was coming up to see the superstars. Our own Jeremy Konrad did an excellent job writing about the figures, though, so check out that article too!

I would say around 500-700 people showed up to Ringside Fest, held at the Carolines on Broadway, right in Times Square. It was a chilly, rainy Sunday, but that certainly didn’t stop me! The venue is small, but it was big enough to hold everyone. Plus, there were seats, so you didn’t need to stand for 2-3 hours at a time.

First up, we met the Goddess of WWE — Alexa Bliss. I’ve become fond of the bratty heel, who in real life couldn’t be nicer. Honestly, she was enthusiastic and very down to Earth.

Next was Big Cass! I only saw him stand once, but he is indeed a very tall man. I obviously can’t be taught that, though, since I’m a mere 4’11. Also, he’s super friendly.

We actually met real-life giant dude Braun Strowman last. I would absolutely love to drink with this dude; he seems like he could tell you some hilarious stories. He’s awesome. He was kind enough to sign over a picture of Roman Reigns for a fan in line, informing Reigns he wasn’t done with him yet. I’ll never get an autograph as good as that, honestly.

And, of course, Finn Balor.

I went up to him, handed him my Funko Pop, and blurted out, “I have a huge crush on you.” Yes, I am an absolute fangirl, and I don’t care. He was super nice about it (because he likely hears that 3920183646 times a day), and I even got to hug him.

In case you’re wondering, I am typing this up from the grave, because I very much so died after this encounter. And I know — I didn’t do the “too sweet” thing. I was holding myself up by clutching the table, because I was swooning like the little charming fangirl I am.

Oh, and I got a few autographs, too.

Would I do Ringside Fest again? Honestly, yeah. Everyone working the festival was super nice and accommodating, and even the other fans were awesome. We talked to a lot of people yesterday, and everyone was having a good time. If you’re thinking about going next year, do it! You will not be let down!

I also got some videos from yesterday, so if you’re into watching people go full on fan while waiting for an autograph, then enjoy.

Porg! New Black Series Porgs Are Coming Next Year!

Porg, or Porgs if multiple, are by far the biggest thing in Star Wars right now. Since being revealed for the first time in The Last Jedi trailer, Porg Mania is sweeping the fandom. Love them or hate them, they’re here to stay — and they’re everywhere. We have Porg Funko Pops, Porg plush, and interactive Porgs. And now in the spring, we will have Black Series 6-inch Porgs.

These will be in scale with other Black Series 6-inch figures. They will also come in two-packs for $5.99.  These were revealed at MCM in London over the weekend.

The sculpt of these are pretty great. The quizzical look on the one is so adorable. Not to be outdone, the open mouth one is also quite cute. That one looks like it’s looking at something amazing — or that one just found out that Rey is not Luke’s daughter (wishful thinking). I gotta wonder what assortment these will come in, and what the packaging will look like. And if they will be exclusives or not. But those are questions for another time.

Hellboy Is A Perfect Funko Pop And You Need One

Hellboy is a Funko Pop. One of my personal most-anticipated Funko lines, I have been patiently waiting for years for this guy to come out. I still need to track down the rest of the wave. I still need to find the chase Hellboy with magnificent horns. But I have a Funko Hellboy. And boy was it worth the wait.

As soon as I saw this bad boy on the shelf I yelped. They even pose him off to the side in a profile shot like a piece of great Hellboy art would. It is the touches like that, that is what keeps me coming back Funko. This wave of Hellboy Pops also kicks off the new line of Comics Pops. We now know there is a Saga wave coming as well. Really I can’t think of a better character to kick the line off. I hope I do not have to wait long to find the others. Especially Abe.

Just look at how cool and adorable he looks out of the box. Of course the yellow eyes are what draws you in, but when you look at all the little intricate details in the sculpt  the figure really shines. Look at his little Right Hand of Doom!!! His little snarl, the tail sticking out of the back of his coat. Right down to the silver B.P.R.D. logo on his arm. I have zero complaints here. There was a touch of red scoffs on the back of his coat. But it rubbed right off.

Everything about this Hellboy figure is perfect. If you love the character, just collects Pops, or like awesome figures: you need to own this. The wave is hitting stores now. Or you can order your very own right here. You may even get the chase!

Stranger Things Wave 3 Funko Pops Are Incredible

Stranger Things 2 is streaming now on Netflix. Wait! Don’t leave yet, you can watch after you check out these ridiculously awesome new Funko Pops! There are no spoilers here, so no worries about that, either. This may be my personal favorite wave of Pops of all-time. I am complete on Stranger Things so far; I have every Pop, Mystery Mini, Vynl, figure, keychain. I have it all. And these will be my favorite.

THEY ARE ALL WEARING THEIR GHOSTBUSTERS UNIFORMS. This episode (episode 2) of the season is my favorite so far, and that seems to be where most of this wave actually comes from. All four of the boys look amazing, and no spoilers, but the way they carry themselves in that episode is very Buster-esque.

Joyce is in her drugstore uniform. Eleven has hair! I love the curls! She has a total Ripley thing going here, and I dig it. But the standout here is Max. I am loving her on the show so far. My favorite slasher and horror character is Michael Myers of Halloween fame. So getting a Stranger Things Pop of a character dressed up as Michael Myers is kind of the best thing ever.

Stranger Things Hype Is Real: Reebok Shoes Incoming

Stranger Things is one tonight! While I have been counting down the minutes all day, I have also been buying WAY too many collectibles this week. Funko Pops, shirts, coffee mugs, journals, you name it. But I also am a little bit of a sneaker-fiend. Even I am not sure about these.

Reebok Bait Ex-O-Fit Clean Hi Stranger Things Edition

Worn by the kids on the show, the shoes feature the artistic stylings of Dustin from the show. They really are pushing this “We love Ghostbusters” thing aren’t they? It makes total sense for the age of the kids on the show and the season taking place the fall after the movie releasing in theaters. We already also know that they are Ghostbusters for Halloween.

Here is the catch. There is always one with limited edition shoes. These are only being sold in BAIT shops. For those of you who have no idea what that is: BAIT is a designer shoe and toy shop pretty much only in the west coast, mostly in California. I visited one while at SDCC this year and it was pretty cool. These will drop in store on October 28th, which is this Saturday. There will be an online sale as well, but you have to enter a raffle to be selected to buy the shoes. You can enter that here.

At $140, you really have to be a fan of the show to pick these up. As a giant fan and a sneaker collector, my fate was sealed the second I laid eyes on them. If you don’t live near a shop and are unsuccessful in the raffle, select Reebok affiliates will have these for sale on November 11th.
