Jinkies! Unstoppable pop-culture collectible leviathan Funko has unveiled new Pop! vinyl figures based on the “Street Fighter” and “Scooby-Doo” franchises.
The first wave of eight figures based on the popular fighting game series depict classic characters Ryu, Chun-Li, Ken, Cammy, Blanka, Balrog and Dan (for some reason) in the big-headed Pop! style that’s become a trademark of line.
What will likely become the most in-demand figure from this wave is the bearded and shirtless “Hot Ryu” figurine, which gets its name from the fan-coined moniker for Ryu’s alternate costume from “Street Fighter V.” The name eventually became so popular that Capcom officially adopted “Hot Ryu” when referring to the costume.
The “Scooby-Doo” collection contains the entire Mystery Inc. gang, and captures the personalities of Shaggy, Scooby, Daphne, Fred and Velma aptly. It’s the little details that make the figures stand out, like Shaggy’s slightly nervous facial expression while holding out a Scooby snack, Fred’s slightly annoyed shrug, and Scooby’s amiable wide smile.
The Scooby-Doo collection will also include some exclusives: A flocked fabric variant for Scooby will be for sale only at Gemini Collectibles, and a Shaggy and Scooby two-packed will be exclusively released at FYE.
The “Street Fighter” Pop! collection will be available for sale at most major retailers in October, while the “Scooby-Doo” collection will arrive in November.
