Deadpool Meets Bob Ross In Newest Teaser For Deadpool 2

Now we know what that Deadpool Thanksgiving image was for. Fans of Bob Ross will like this teaser homage to the late painter as Ryan Reynolds channels his Happy Little Merc into this Deadpool 2 teaser. It’s interesting how popular Ross is again including the line of Funko Pop! Vinyl figures they’ve recently released. The video plays on Ross’s painting show mixed in with footage from the upcoming film. The video is a bit NSFW, so be warned.

At the moment, the 20th Century Fox synopsis for the film on IMDB reads:

After surviving a near fatal bovine attack, a disfigured cafeteria chef (Wade Wilson) struggles to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayberry’s hottest bartender while also learning to cope with his lost sense of taste. Searching to regain his spice for life, as well as a flux capacitor, Wade must battle ninjas, the yakuza, and a pack of sexually aggressive canines, as he journeys around the world to discover the importance of family, friendship, and flavor – finding a new taste for adventure and earning the coveted coffee mug title of World’s Best Lover.

Mortal Kombat Figures Coming From Funko

Mortal Kombat is getting a new line of action figures from Funko. Standing at 5.5 inches tall, these seem to be modeled after the figures they did for the short-lived show Son of Zorn, and follow the successful Rick and Morty wave from earlier this year. Five figures in all will be available in the first wave: Scorpion, Sub Zero, Kitana, Raiden, and Liu Kang.

These fully articulated figures stand roughly 5 ½ inches tall,
many of which hold deadly weapon accessories!
The series includes Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Raiden, Kitana, and Liu Kang!

Well, one thing I will say is that the cardback is… okay?

Man, these just do not do anything for me. The male figures look like scaled-up mystery minis. The sculpts look pretty good, but the bent-knees look is not flattering at all. They look a little too bulky. The best-looking figure is Kitana, and even that one has some weird proportions. Accessories look to be character-accurate, but after getting the Rick and Morty ones, that doesn’t excite me too much. They were flimsy and too small. Things snapped easily and were lost, and these look similar. Hopefully they use a different material for them.

I guess I just do not know who these are for. There is no shortage of Mortal Kombat figures — both high-end and affordable options. And most of these are the same characters that have been done before. What would interest me would be if they started doing characters like Baraka, Jax, and Smoke — ones that usually don’t see release. Until then, I will be skipping these.

Coliseum Of Comics Buys Two Comic Shops, Making Nine Stores In The Chain

Orlando based comic book chain Coliseum Of Comics has purchased two new Floridan comic book stores to add to the chain, Superhero Hive and Superhero Beach or Riverside and Jacksonville Beach, bought from store owner Neil Sindicich. He set up the Jacksonville Beach store in 2011 and purchased the Riverside store in 2013.

These two stores will create a total of nine stores in the Coliseum of Comics family.

They will also be adding an extra day onto the week’s business, both now opening on Mondays, with evening extended hours, and a grand reopening fornoth stores in February for the chain’s 35th anniversary.

Jacksonville Business Journal quotes the store president Phil Boyle as saying “we’re really happy to be keeping the same staff in place, because one of the things we’ve realized over the years is that the people that run comic stores are kind of the bartenders to the nerd sect. And that’s a happy term”.

And that the new chain will add new products to the purchased stores, including “a full line of trade paperbacks, Funko Pop vinyl figures, action figurines, expanded line of new comics and a significant addition of back issues.”

And lots of statues. “Coliseum has always liked a high-end store… I love having the statues in the stores, even though some of them are extremely pricey, they look wonderful and it brings a different clientele into the stores. We have high-end back issues as well, it’s something we’ve always pursued.”
