BC Toy Spotting: Marvel Legends, Funko, Ralph Breaks the Internet, Predator, and More!

Welcome to the latest edition of BC Toy Spotting! We are in and out of stores pretty much every day, and we figure (ha!) why not show all of our fellow collectors what we are coming across on pegs and shelves. As collectors, we know that staying on top of what is in stores can be almost a full time job, so we are here to help you with your toy hunts and outings. This week we found new Marvel Legends again, Funko galore, Ralph Breaks the Internet figures and such, Harry Potter LEGO, and more! Let’s dive in.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 16 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 15 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 14 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 13 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 12

First up, Harry Potter LEGO! These may have been out other places, but here in the midwest they are just now hitting retail, including the awesome Hogwarts Great Hall! These were all found at Target.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 21 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 22 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 23

Ralph Breaks the Internet, or Wreck it Ralph 2, Bandai figures and sets are hitting Walmarts and Targets right now. There are regular figs, big talking figs, and little figurine sets.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 9

Gamestops are getting in their Diamond Select exclusive Gallery Joker and Thanos statues.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 30

Mego collectors can find new things almost daily at Target right now. This week’s big find for me was the Wizard of Oz Dorothy and Wicked Witch two-pack.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 28 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 27

Two NECA TMNT prop replicas are popping back up at Gamestops. The mutagen canister and Casey Jones mask are hitting hard, with the Casey mask flying out of stores. Don’t wait on these.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 7 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 8 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 5

Marvel Legends collectors seem to have new figures to buy every week right now as well. More of the vintage carded figures wave 2 are hitting, this week Hawkeye and Vision. The A.I.M. two-pack is also popping up, this one was found at Gamestop.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 33 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 34

NECA’s new Ahab Predator figure is hitting at Targets right now in their dedicated section.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 3 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 4 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 18 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 19 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 20 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 24 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 25 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 26

As always, tons of Funko product hits stores every week. The Gamestop exclusive Gamer Mickey Mouse is in stores, as are Kingdom Hearts 3 Monsters Inc. world Pops. The KH3 Pops are pretty awesome. Hot Topics got in the LA Comic Con Chrome Colossus and Ghost Rider Doctor Strange Pops. Mine still has some as I type this, though YMMV. The just announced Voltron wave of Pops hit a day after being announced, and the Crimes of Grindlewald Pops are hitting full force right now, including a Target exclusive 10-inch Niffler.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 2 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 10 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 29

Also from Funko, Ralph Breaks the Internet and Fallout Mystery Minis are in stores, along with Savage World Thundercats figures. The Thundercats have been going as fast and they get them around here, so you may want to snap these up as you find them.

BC Toy Spotting Week Three 11 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 6 BC Toy Spotting Week Three 17

Finally, for those who missed the initial push of Transformers Trading Card game packs, they are hitting hard again everywhere. This endcap display was in a Target. WWE M.U.S.C.L.E. figures from SDCC are hitting Gamestops, and Jakks Mickey Mouse Tsum Tsum sets can be found right now at Walgreens stores.

Toys R Us Indeed Has Returned…as a Box of Toys at Kroger

Toys R Us left a gaping hole not just in the toy industry, but to collectors and kids of all ages when it shuttered earlier this year. This is the first holiday season without the toy giant, and while some stores are attempting to fill the void, they have failed to impress so far.

Toys R Us

Then a couple weeks ago came the news that the brand was in fact returning. How that return was going to be accomplished remained a mystery, but the lenders who decided not to auction off the brand had said they would for sure be coming to stores as Geoffrey’s Toy Box, a “store within a store” concept that sounds terrible as soon as you read it out loud.

Well, now we know what this is going to look like. Today, Geoffrey’s Toy Box has begun to appear in chain store Kroger as, well, a box of toys.

The Senior Vice President of Merchandising had this to say while announcing the partnership this morning:

“Geoffrey’s Toy Box delivers a unique shopping destination within Kroger stores. We’re excited to offer Geoffrey’s Toy Box this holiday season to provide our customers with the opportunity to purchase a selection of toys once exclusive to Toys “R” Us.”

And here is the Executive Vice President of Geoffrey’s Toy Box Richard Berry about the partnership:

“We are thrilled to partner with Kroger to bring a curated collection of product from our beloved portfolio of brands to American consumers this holiday.”

Basically hat this adds up to from my point of view: they have a bunch of formerly TRU exclusive merchandise sitting around and they figured out a way to get retailers to buy it. Talk about a let down. Should we have expected anything less from this “company” at this point? Kroger is bigger in the midwest, but I live in Ohio and to get to the closest one I would have to drive over two hours. Looks like from the list provided that they will also be in Kroger stores like Fred Meyer and Smiths as well, but again, these are region specific stores. This is not what collectors and kids were hoping for at all. Not to mention brands like Hasbro, Mattel, Playmates, Funko, and others are not listed as partners.

Maybe our expectations were too high and we got our hopes up. For now, when you visit Kroger stores, look for the familiar giraffe and get sad all over again.
