Masters of the Universe Characters Return in Funko Soda Unboxing

The Funko Soda train continues as we happen to get our hands on The Masters of the Universe figures. I have had a lot of fun not only opening these cans but finding them. With flippers and dedicated collectors out there, it is sometimes hard only paying retail for some of these collectibles. I told myself I would not pay eBay prices on these and so far I have lucked out. There have been three site I have been finding this limited edition Funko Soda drops; HotTopic, BoxLunch, and Barnes & Noble. Their drops have been random so it is just luck to get your hands on some of these figures but this time we got both Masters of the Universe characters, Skeletor and He-Man. So let's not wait around any longer and figure out if they have the power! First up is the villain of the Masters of the Universe story, Skeletor. He is limited to only 10,000 pieces and of course, features a chance at a 1:6 chase variant. His variant features a darker colored version of him. The can itself features Skeletors colors or purple and blue. We did not get a chase but this figure still is limited to only 1/8,400 pieces. Skeletor is nicely detailed and gives off the Saturday Morning Cartoons vibe. His skull and body are nicely detailed and quite simple. The sculpting work is nicely done and could please any Masters of the Universe fan.

He-Man, on the other hand, is a special case and we were saving him for the end. We managed to luck out this time as we hit gold this time and got the Slime Pit Slimer He-Man Chase! Unlike most of the Funko Soda Chase figures the Masters of the Universe He-Man get a completely new paint job. That's right, everyone's favorite Slime Pit is back and He-Man fell into Hordak's trap. This icon look is quite known by fans of the Masters of the Universe Mattel line. The Funko Soda figure is limited to only 10,000 pieces but since we have the chase version it is only one of 1,600 made. The Funko Soda can features the original He-Man brown and yellow colors on the text and a classic decal design. We do not have the original figure to compare it too but man do I live this figure. The green is so bright and the added red on his chest and eyes are demonic. He has a pretty basic design but his sword and hair and nicely sculpted. Compared to other chase figures out there this one will really stand out. Fans of Masters of the Universe and He-Man defiantly need to add this figure to their collection. I will now have to test the waters yet again to get my hands on the normal one for a complete set. Funko Soda brings limited edition collecting back into the collectibles world and I love it. Their simple and cartoony designs bring back childhood memories. These figures are flying off online shelves so make sure you get your hands on them before they all disappear.

Funko Announces New Pops for Disney's Artemis Fowl

Funko has announced that the upcoming Disney film Artemis Fowl will be getting the Funko Pop treatment. We have recently seen that the Disney film was shifted its theater release date from May 29th to a Disney + release on June 12th. This is some exciting news for dedicated fans of the series and to make it even better, Funko announced its first wave of Pop vinyls. There will be 3 Pops getting released one of which gets a special Chase variant. Mulch Diggems, Holly Short, and Artemis Fowl are all getting popified this time as Artemis is getting a special sunglasses Chase variant. Each figure is nicely designed off their on screen appearance and the Chase variant is a decent Chase that will get fans excited to get them for their collection.

Pre-orders are already live for each of these Funko Pop figures and you can find them all located here. Artemis Fowl's limited edition chase will most likely be a 1 in 6 chance type of deal to test your luck to get one. The Barnes and Noble three pack is a little pricey as it comes in at $39.99 which makes it roughly $13 per pop which would be the same as an individual purchase you just will get them all in a convenient package. This bundle is already available now and you can lock down yours here. I am sure there will be more figures to come out in later waves as the movie comes out and spoilers are revealed. Stay tuned here at Bleeding Cool for all your Funko needs from news to reviews.

The Umbrella Academy Season 2 Episode Titles Feed Our Speculation

Netflix's The Umbrella Academy is one of those series we will proudly say we've been obsessing over since Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin Min ended their first season run having found a way to both not save the world and be in the best position to save the world. Doesn't make sense? Not surprising, since that's how all of this wibbily-wobbly, timey-wimey stuff usually works. Suffice it to say, our heroes are going to get a chance to go back and make things right (or possibly make them horribly worse). Heading into the holidays, we got to watch them celebrate their horrific holiday sweaters as well as their characters' official Funko vinyl figures. In February, we saw the first batch of key art posters released, and then things got very quiet for a little while after that, understandable considering the current self-isolation and social distancing environment.

Last month, series creator and executive producer Steve Blackman took to Instagram to show the team working hard on post-production on the live-action adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba's comic book series. Then earlier this week, Min offered us a personal glimpse into how ADR (Automated Dialog Replacement) recording was going (otherwise known as "looping"). Now, it's a look at what appears to be the season's episode titles and writers, thanks to the WGA site. We're avoiding assigning them specific episode numbers until they're confirmed, but the running order for the season could be as follows (with writers included): "743" (Bronwyn Garrity and Roberto Askins), "A Light Supper" (Aeryn Michelle Williams), "OGA for OGA" (Nikki Schiefelbein), "Right Back Where We Started" (Blackman), "The End of Something" (Blackman), "The Frankel Footage" (Mark Goffman), "The Majestic 12" (Garrity), "The Seven Stages" (Goffman and Jesse McKeown), "The Swedish Job" (McKeown), and "Valhalla" (Robert Askins). Just a quick reminder that all of this is unofficial until it's official, but they do have us curious.

Here's a Timely Look at The Umbrella Academy

Based on the graphic novels created and written by Way, illustrated by Ba, and published by Dark Horse Comics. Netflix's adaptation follows the estranged members of a dysfunctional family of superheroes consisting of Spaceboy (Hopper), The Kraken (Castañeda), The Rumor (Raver-Lampman), The Séance (Sheehan), and Number Five (Gallagher), as they work together to solve their father's mysterious death while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities. Colm Feore (House of Cards) is world-renowned billionaire industrialist and eccentric inventor Sir Reginald Hargreeves; Jordan Claire Robbins as more-than-she-appears family matriarch Grace Hargreeves; and Adam Godley (Breaking Bad) as the voice of Pogo, a genetically engineered, tweed jacket-wearing, talking chimpanzee who is also the family advisor and mentor.

The Umbrella Academy also stars award-winning singer/actress Mary J. Blige (Mudbound) as ruthless, time-traveling hitwoman Cha-Cha; Cameron Britton (Mindhunter) as her deadly efficient partner Hazel; Ashley Madekwe (Revenge) as Detective Patch, a driven, fast riser within the police department investigating a series of murders and The Academy. John Magaro's(The Big Short) Leonard Peabody begins to take music lessons from Vanya and sees something special in this constantly dismissed wallflower, and Kate Walsh (Grey's Anatomy) as The Handler, the head of the Commission and Number Five's former boss.

Ritu Arya (Humans), Yusuf Gatewood (Good Omens), and Marin Ireland (Y: The Last Man) are confirmed for the second season's time-jumping adventure. Arya's Lila is a chameleon who can be as brilliant or as clinically insane as the situation requires. Unpredictable, mischievous and sarcastic, Lila's gifted with a twisted sense of humor. Gatewood's Raymond is a born leader with the smarts, gravitas, and the confidence to never have to prove it to anyone. He is warm, dedicated and has the innate ability to disarm you with a look. A devoted husband, he's the kind of guy everyone wants to know. Ireland's Sissy is a fearless, no-nonsense Texas mom who married young for all the wrong reasons. She's eager to rediscover what life and love have to offer while still in her prime.

#Creators4Comics Auction Begins to Benefit Comic Shops

As Bleeding Cool mentioned the other day, comic book creators Kami Garcia, Brian Michael Bendis, Gwenda Bond, Sam Humphries and Phil Jimenez are behind #Creators4Comics. A new fundraising initiative to benefit comic book stores, via the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BINC). Any creator can participate, they can run their own individual auctions by tweeting under the hashtag #Creators4Comics. They will offer everything from signed comics to artwork to unique events and experiences. The auctions have now begun, and will be continuing until 12pm ET Monday, April 20th. Here are the first such listings. Expect hundreds more, and keep refreshing this link.

Those with auctions can also promote them by messaging @Creators4Comics. Twitter users scroll through the auction items under the hashtag and reply to individual item threads to place their bids in increments of $1 or more.  To bid on auctions, all you need is a Twitter account. Bid on items you are interested in by replying to the item tweet. Keep track of the auctions you're bidding on in case you are outbid. Anyone can bid on an item and anyone can join in and post an auction. You do not need an invitation to participate.

Donate the final auction amount to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BINC) here. You will need a credit card to make a donation to BINC. Then direct message the person auctioning the item and send them proof of your donation in the form of a confirmation email (or screen shot of the email from BINC). The winning bidder donates directly to BINC and submits the proof of donation to the auctioneer to claim their item. BINC is taking applications for stores in need now and will start providing direct aid to stores at the end of April. Here are some planned items coming through.

Funko Marvel Collector Corp Infinity Saga Unboxing

It was a sad day when Funko canceled all of their subscription boxes that included Disney, Marvel, DC, and Star Wars. However, it was a nice surprise to see them sold off any picked up by multiple different retailers. Target got DC Legion of Collectors, Hot Topic got Disney Treasures, and Amazon got both Smugglers Bounty and Marvel Collector Corps. I have been a collector of the Marvel subscription series since the beginning and it is always exciting when it finally shows up at my door. They are shipped out every other month and are given a specific theme, this month's theme was Marvel Studios The Infinity Saga. These subscription boxes are hard to get into unless someone decides to back out of their service but you can test your luck here. With 22+ movies in the series I'm pretty interested to see how Funko sums up this icon film history, so let's strap on our Infinity Gauntlets and unbox this bad boy!

The box is nicely designed, it has the Infinity Saga words on the front and a huge variety of superhero logos on the top. Nothing is super crazy about the outside and I do miss the special cardboard boxes that the original Collector Corp boxes came in. Opening the box we are greeted with a nice variety of collectibles and of course, the shirt is on top. The shirt is from Spider-Man: Far from Home with the words "Peter Tingle" on them. This is obviously a reference to when Aunt May referred to Peter's Spider-Sense as a Peter Tingle, which is hilarious. I am a big fan of Funko and their shirts, they fit just right, comfortable and nothing wrong with showing your Funko support. Next up, we are looking at the little accessories that these boxes get. In this one, we are getting a Mjolnir hammer decal and a Funko Pop Captain Marvel pin. Both of these pieces do glow in the dark which a nice touch to make them stand out. The Captain Marvel pin is based on her Avengers: Endgame appearance which my favorite look of hers from Marvel Studios.

The last two pieces of the Amazon Exclusive Funko Marvel subscription box are, of course, the main event, the Pop Vinyls. These are the main collectible that collectors are trying to get a hold of and we have seen Movie Moments, single pops, two packs, and double Pop releases in these. This time we are getting a real treat as we are getting two Marvel Cinematic Universe Funko Pops! The first one is from Guardians of the Galaxy with Star Lord and the Power Stone. This figure does feature a glow in the dark element which is a beautiful touch. The glowing purple will really give it a very compelling touch. The purple etching on his face and in his eyes are very unique for this figure and I love that they went all the way back to 2014 for this design. Next, we are traveling back to 2018 for our next Pop from Black Panther. This Funko Pop also features a purple glow in the dark effect which is nice. This one is more than just the character as he is posed in a dynamic attack position and kinetic energy surrounding him. His base is purple and he is covered in elements of purple throughout his costume. This is based on his updated costume that can release excess energy stored up in his suit. Both of these figures feature purple elements which are pretty interesting but I love the added glow in the dark feature. It is really hard to narrow all of these movies down to a simple box but I am really pleased with these figures. Both series already have a nice set of figures but each brings a new dynamic pose to their collections. My favorite of the two is the Star Lord as it is a crucial scene of the movie and it's nice to have in solidify in a single collectible. I am looking forward to the next subscription box too like it for the next MCU film Black Widow.

The Umbrella Academy Star Justin Min Posts Season 2 Recording Update

Ever since the season wrapped on Netflix's The Umbrella Academy, we've been hunting down as many clues and updates as possible about the series' second-season return. During the holidays, we had the chance to see Ellen Page, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, and Justin Min celebrating horrific holiday sweaters and their official Funko vinyl figures. Great for them, and great for us because it gave us a glimpse at some on-set activity. In February, we saw the first batch of key art posters released, one which definitely showed that the "eyes" have it while asking one very important question: when are they? Things got quiet after that, which was understandable considering the current self-isolation and social distancing environment we've all been living in.

In mid-March, series creator and executive producer Steve Blackman took to Instagram to show the team working hard on post-production on the live-action adaptation of Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba's comic book series. Now, Min has taken to Instagram to offer fans a look at how things are going as he's secure in his closet for some ADR (Automated Dialog Replacement) recording, also known as "looping." After doing a little (10 seconds) of internet digging to answer the question some of you might be asking, ADR is re-recording audio in an environment that's more controlled and quieter. While usually done in a studio, tough times call for tough measure but the process is important to improve audio quality where needed, as well as add or change dialogue.

Here's a Look at the Past and Future of The Umbrella Academy
