Stan Lee’s Marvel Cameo Characters Are Getting Funko Pop!s

Stan Lee’s Marvel Cameo Characters Are Getting Funko Pop!s

Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee will be immortalized as a Funko Pop! figure — again. The toy manufacturer announced today that it will be releasing three more Lee figures highlighting his cameos in Captain America: The First Avenger, Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Funko is set to debut the Pop! figures in November. It’s unclear whether these will mark the beginning of a further expanded line of Lee figures, as the comic legend has a plethora of cameos — including those outside of the Marvel Cinematic Universe — for the company to pick from. For now, fans will be able to pick up the figures below exclusively from Walmart when they hit shelves next month.

Back in September, Lee’s manager Max Anderson revealed he has already filmed five upcoming cameos for Marvel Studios: Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War and its untitled sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Black Panther. Although health concerns have forced Lee to cancel various convention appearances over the past couple of years, Lee doesn’t look to be slowing down anytime soon, and — with filming kicking off in January on Captain Marvel — it’s a safe bet he’ll return before the cameras to film at least one more time.

Thor: Ragnarok’s [SPOILER] Voiced by Marvel Animation Vet Clancy Brown

Thor: Ragnarok’s [SPOILER] Voiced by Marvel Animation Vet Clancy Brown

Thor: Ragnarok has added a Marvel and Star Wars voice actor in a demon of a role.

RELATED: Thor: Ragnarok: Analyzing the Second Trailer, From Fenris to [Spoiler].

Following yesterday’s massive Marvel Studios Hall H panel, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi revealed that Clancy Brown, who has done voice over work for shows such as Avengers Assemble and Star Wars Rebels, would be voicing Surtur in the film. Waititi revealed the news to ComicBook.com, explaining that he did some of the motion capture for the character, but that the voice was handled by Brown.

“I did a little of the mo-cap stuff for Surtur, body wise, but then we have Clancy Brown doing the voice of Surtur.”

Although Surtur has been confirmed to appear in the film for some time, it wasn’t until the latest trailer for Thor: Ragnarok that we got our first look at the character on the big screen. Surtur, who is based on the fire giant from Norse mythology, first appeared in Marvel Comics back in 1963 and has served as a recurring Thor villain ever since, playing a key role in the events of Ragnarok.

Along with his work on Avengers Assemble and Star Wars Rebels, Brown is also credited with voicing Mr. Krabs on Spongebob, as well as Parallax in 2011’s Green Lantern, which funnily enough also featured Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi as Tom Kalmaku.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/the Hulk and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. The film will hit theaters on November 3rd.

The new toys will include a detailed figure of David Bowie’s Jareth the Goblin King from Labyrinth, as well as the Gelflings Jen and Kira from The Dark Crystal. The Jareth the Goblin King figure is set to hit shelves this November, with the Jen and Kira figures following in Spring 2018.

“Jim Henson was one of the most visually creative minds, and these incredible movies are just the tip of the iceberg,” McFarlane Toys owner and CEO Todd McFarlane said in a statement. “We pride ourselves on our creativity and attention to detail, and to be able to make figures of these iconic characters is something pretty special.”

Jim Henson directed the The Dark Crystal in 1982 and followed it up with Labyrinth in 1986, starring the iconic David Bowie. Interestingly enough, along with the recently-announced prequel series to The Dark Crystal, a sequel to Labyrinth was announced shortly after the death of Bowie, with Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel scribe Nicole Perlman set to write the screenplay.

DC Bombshells Will Return As Digital-First Ongoing Series

DC Bombshells Will Return As Digital-First Ongoing Series

DC Bombshells writer Marguerite Bennett took to Twitter on Friday afternoon to announce that the fan-favorite series will return this summer as an ongoing, digital-first series.

RELATED: DC’s Bombshells Get the Funko Pop! Treatment

Bennett also revealed that the new ongoing series will see the inclusion of “new heroines, new theaters of war, new perils, new crises, and new smooches!” Unfortunately, that was all she was able to reveal, but did promise more news would follow in the coming weeks.

RELATED: Building A Better DC Comics Bombshell

The first DC Bombshells series launched back in 2015 following the success of the line of statues from DC Collectibles and a run of variant covers published the prior year. That series was also written by Bennett with Marguerite Sauvage taking on art duties. The first series starred retro versions of Batwoman, Wonder Woman and Supergirl as they fought the good fight.

Like the new series set to launch this summer, the first DC Bombshells series was also released as a digital-first series, with print editions that followed months later. As of right now, it’s unknown which new heroines Bennett plans to introduce, however, with summer right around the corner, official news shouldn’t be too far off.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Art Offers Close Look at Homemade Spidey Suit

Spider-Man: Homecoming Art Offers Close Look at Homemade Spidey Suit

Funko has just unveiled a brand new piece of art for “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” giving fans their best look yet at Spidey’s homemade suit.

RELATED: Spider-Man: Homecoming May Include An Iconic Marvel Location

The image was revealed over Twitter, where they announced that Marvel Collector Corps would be following the April “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” box with “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” The image gives us quite possibly the clearest image of Spidey’s homemade suit we’ve seen teased in previous trailers for the film, as well as the previously announced Hot Toys figure.

Although we know Spidey will don his suit from “Captain America: Civil War,” albeit with some technological upgrades, we also know that he’s set to lose the Stark designed suit at some point in time in “Homecoming.” With Marvel’s Collector Corps using the homemade suit on the promo image for the next box, it would appear that unlike with “Captain America: Civil War,” where we only saw a brief glimpse of Peter’s former super suit, we can expect his old suit to play a pivotal part Peter’s journey over the course of “Spider-Man: Homecoming.”

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” follows the events of “Captain America: Civil War.” The film, described as “a coming-of-age story,” finds Peter attending his high school for gifted kids, trying to impress his new benefactor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) and also dealing with a pesky arch enemy the Vulture (Michael Keaton).

Directed by Jon Watts (“Clown”), written by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein (“Vacation”) and starring Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Robert Downey Jr., Zendaya, Donald Glover and many, many others, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” swings into theaters on July 7, 2017.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Toy Offers First Look at Debicki’s Ayesha

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Toy Offers First Look at Debicki’s Ayesha

As we near “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’s” May release date, details about the highly anticipated film continue surface online. Thus far, we’ve seen a Groot-tastic teaser trailer, and earlier today, Marvel Studios released a some stills from the upcoming film. Now, thanks to one fan’s sharp eye, we have our first look at Elizabeth Debicki’s character Ayesha.

RELATED: Guardians’ Gamora Confirmed for Avengers: Infinity War

Given that our first look is courtesy of a Dorbz figure, it isn’t exactly the best look at the character’s design for the film, but it does give us a good idea of what to expect come May. As you’ll note above, the character’s look for the film isn’t too far off from that of her comic counterpart. She’s still sporting a purple uniform and blonde locks; the only difference is that Ayesha’s costume does offer a bit more coverage, in much the same way as Scarlet Witch’s outfit in “Captain America: Civil War.”

Debicki, who was confirmed for the film early last year, was revealed as Ayesha by director James Gunn during the Marvel Studios panel at SDCC. At the time, Debicki explained that her character, who is typically referred to as Kismet in the comics, originally enlists the help of the Guardians before things go awry.

In the comics, Ayesha is a celestial being that was created by a group known as the Enclave, in their second attempt to forge a super-powerful being. With the ability to regenerate and manipulate cosmic energy, Ayesha often uses her powers for flight, and to conjure force bolts for attack. Essentially, Ayesha is immortal.

Opening May 5, 2017, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Glenn Close, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell.
