Ghost Rider Blazes a Trail With New Funko Pop! Rides Figure

Ghost Rider Blazes a Trail With New Funko Pop! Rides Figure

A deal with Mephisto never turned out as cute as this new Ghost Rider Pop! Rides figure from Funko.

In Marvel Comics lore, stunt rider Johnny Blaze sold his soul to the devil in exchange for curing his adoptive father of cancer. As is the case with such hellish contracts, however, that one came with loopholes, and resulted in Blaze being bonded with the demon Zarathos and transformed into a fiery Spirit of Vengeance.

The flaming skull and motorcycle remain in this Pop! Rides figure, which nevertheless looks far more adorable than vengeful. It may even be enough for collectors to forget those two Nicolas Cage, and display the toy in a place of pride on their shelves. Just be careful of the hellfire.

A Previews exclusive, the Ghost Rider Pop! figure is available in two versions: regular and glow in the dark, priced at $29.99 each. The figure is available now for preorder, and is expected to ship in October.

This of course isn’t the first Ghost Rider figure from Funko. The collectibles company previously released a Funko Dorbz Ridez and Pop! versions of the fiery Marvel character.

Thor: Ragnarok Hot Toys Figure May Contain a Major Spoiler

Thor: Ragnarok Hot Toys Figure May Contain a Major Spoiler

WARNING: This article contains potential spoilers for Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, arriving Nov. 3.

The new trailer for Thor: Ragnarok was packed with plenty of surprises for Marvel fans, but the biggest — literally — came in the final seconds with the fiery visage of Surtur. Although we already knew the longtime Thor villain played a role in the Marvel Studios sequel, thanks to a pair of Funko toys, the sheer scale of the flaming demon, and the promise of a showdown with the Incredible Hulk, surely compensated for the lack of surprise.

However, now another merchandising tie-in may provide a clue as to Surtur’s role, and his ultimate fate.

Thor: Ragnarok Hot Toys

Hot Toys, the Hong Kong-based company known for its movie-accurate collectibles, has unveiled its first two 1/6th-scale figures for Thor: Ragnarok, Gladiator Hulk and Roadworn Thor. Although the former will undoubtedly draw much of the attention — hey, it’s the Incredible Hulk in gladiator attire — the latter deserves closer inspection for one of its accessories: Surtur’s skull, which “can be magnetically attached to the back of the figure along with a metal chain.”

That would certainly imply that Thor (with or without his allies) kills Surtur in his effort to stop Hela from razing Asgard and its civilization, and bring about the Twilight of the Gods. The demon is typically depicted in Marvel comics as 1,000 feet tall, as we see in the trailer, but the scale of the skull suggests he may change size in the film, perhaps after death.

In addition to Surtur’s skull, the Hot Toys figure comes with interchangeable hands, a metal Mjolnir, a blue-colored LED light-up Mjolnir with lightning effect accessory, and a display stand. It’s expected to ship in the third or fourth quarter of this year.

Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/the Hulk and Anthony Hopkins as Odin. The film arrives No. 3.

Dad Turns Son’s Wheelchair Into Ghostbusters Ecto-1 For Halloween

Dad Turns Son’s Wheelchair Into Ghostbusters Ecto-1 For Halloween

Last Halloween, Jeremy Miller took on the forces of the Galactic Empire in the incredible “Star Wars” snowspeeder costume his father created for his wheelchair. This year … well, let’s just say the 9-year-old won’t be afraid of no ghosts as he goes trick-or-treating.

After putting this year’s costume up for a vote by friends, Jeremy’s dad Ryan Scott Miller actually topped the snowspeeder by transforming his son’s wheelchair into the Ecto-1 from “Ghostbusters.”

Using Funko’s Pop! vinyl Ecto-1 as a model, Miller built an impressive replica of the iconic vehicle, complete with working headlights, tail lights and siren. The rack includes yellow and green canisters, a ladder, a siren light, and two speakers — one for the Ghostbusters siren and the other for the theme music.

“I think we nailed it!” Miller wrote. Indeed they did. He’s shared plenty of photos of the Ecto-1, so you can check out the details.

The Ecto-1 is only the latest in a line of amazing costumes created by Miller for Jeremy’s wheelchair, including a pirate ship, the Batmobile, Captain America’s motorcycle and, of course, the aforementioned “Star Wars” snowspeeder.

Batman: The Animated Series is Coming to Funko’s Pop! Line

With DC Collectibles’ “Batman: The Animated Series” action figure line, it’s a pretty good time to be a fan of the revered animated series, as collectors can populate their shelves with the Dark Knight’s friends and foes, not to mention his vehicles. And now Funko is heading to Gotham City with its signature Pop! touch.

Airing from 1992 to 1995, “Batman: The Animated Series” brought a film noir aesthetic, and a more mature tone, to the Fox Kids lineup, as Batman and Robin faced villains ranging from Mr. Freeze and The Penguin to Sewer King and Red Claw. Aside from its acclaimed storytelling and design sensibilities, it’s notable for its introduction of Harley Quinn and Renee Montoya (the latter actually debuted first in comic books, but was created for the cartoon). Both, of course, went on to enjoy popularity well beyond the animated series.

The “Batman: The Animated Series” Pop! line is set to debut November from Funko.
