Long-standing Texan comic book store Austin Books & Comics has a second discount comic book store close by, The Sidekick Store. With rows and rows of longboxes full of $1 back issues, 50% off paperbacks, hardcovers, and manga, bagged sets of comics, heavily discounted toys, collectables, showcase comics, and the like.
However, due to escalating rents, they are closing the store for good this weekend. So they are clearing the place with everything bulk-priced into value boxes.
So comics previously at a dollar each are now ten cents each, or an entire longbox for twenty bucks. All graphic novels and trade paperbacks are a dollar each. And Funko Pops are a dollar each as well.
Here are the kind of deals going down…
My local Discount Comic Store, @AustinBooks sidekick, is closing soon. All trades and HC’s were 88% off cover price. Everything else was 75% off. For $50 I got all of this. (No #GreenLantern stuff because you think they had something I didn’t already?! Please…) pic.twitter.com/sYXH5Tqxz9

Bleeding Cool tries to mark the passing of comics stores as well as their opening. Existing fanbases are likely to make the former more well known, but please let us know if a comic store is opening or closing in your neighbourhood. Just e-mail richjohnston@bleedingcool.com.
