…and bloody form, Depending upon your taste.
Or lack of it.
Lobo was created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, and first appeared in Omega Men #3 in 1983. First introduced as a hardened villain, he soon fell out of use with writers and remained in limbo until his revival as an anti-hero biker with his own comic in the early 1990s from Alan Grant and Simon Bisley. Writers attempted to use Lobo as a parody of the 1990s trend towards “grim and gritty” superhero stories, epitomised by such Marvel Comics characters as Cable, Wolverine, and Punisher, but was instead enthusiastically accepted by fans of the trend. This popularity led to the character having a much higher profile in DC Comics stories from then on, as well as starring roles in various series in the decades since.
A recent revamp of the character for the New 52, which lost much if the “heavy metal” baggage in a return to a form closer to the original version of the character was dismissed as “lipstick Lobo” and of late the 90s Lobo has returned with a vengeance, including an issue of Harley’s Little Black Book featuring Lobo, once again, by Simon Bisley.
And it’s that version which has been created in vinyl by the Funko folk.
