The first Annual Designer Toy Summit on March 18th in Memphis, Tennessee is calling for “all designer toy artists, toy designers, toy sculptors, toy companies, retailers, bloggers, podcasters, producers, customizers, and collectors!”
Well, not all of them. Because – what are designer toys?
Designer toys are limited edition art objects that are designed, and sometimes hand made, sometimes 3d printed. By artists of all kinds, from all fields of art and graphic design.
Designer toys are rarely available in big box stores or even comic book shops. They are however, often found in art galleries, and at comic conventions.
Designer toys summit is a specialty event solely devoted to showcasing designer toys and the artists behind them.
The designer toy industry is also an open scene. Meaning anyone can pick up a DIY platform toy and start customizing it, list it online for sale, and become a toy artist themselves!
Again, not all of them. Because…
All Funko, Pop!, Reaction figures and other similar goods do not meet our criteria, and are not permitted to be sold at designer toy summit.
So that’s you told.
