BAIT x Wu-Tang Clan x Transformers 4.5 Inch Figures – Megatron, Soundwave, Bumblebee, and Optimus Prime – $30 Each, or $100 for Set.

Those Wu-Tang Clan Transformers figures are amazing. I have some of their regular Transformers figures that have been released before, and have been quite happy with my purchases. These are 4.5 inch vinyl figures, all repainted to represent the iconic rap group of the same name. Two Decepticons (Megatron and Soundwave) join two Autobots (Optimus Prime and Bumblebee) to form Cybertron’s best musical act ever. $100 for the set is a great price, and I have to get my man Soundwave for my focus shelf.

These will all be available either at the Bait store or booth 5645 at the show, or both.

Lets Take a Look at Some Scooby-Doo ‘Doo Good’ Merch From BoxLunch

The other day we told you about the new Scooby-Doo merch coming to BoxLunch stores this weekend. It is all part of the “Doo Good” initiative  is aiming to help feed children and families who are less fortunate and get them the meals they need. For every $10 spent on the products, BoxLunch will be donating a meal to someone in need. Furthermore, part of the assortment will be a special Flocked Scooby-Doo Funko Pop that will provide 10 meals per Pop sold. BoxLunch was kind enough to send over a box of some of the items for us to show you, so let’s take a look shall we?

BoxLunch Scooby Doo Doo Good Merch 3 BoxLunch Scooby Doo Doo Good Merch 4 BoxLunch Scooby Doo Doo Good Merch 5 BoxLunch Scooby Doo Doo Good Merch 6

First up is a Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine lunch box. I love the design molded to make it look like the iconic van. they even made the front look like the gang is looking out the windshield! The lunch box is insulated , and even has a separate pouch to keep your Scooby Snacks in. The real star though is the Scooby metal 17 oz. water bottle. I love these things, I take them everywhere, and it is a perfect size. This one costs $24.99 and is available here.

Also included in the box were a Mystery Machine t-shirt and drawstring bag, and totally wicked Mystery Machine crew socks. As a matter of fact as I type this I am wearing the comfy socks right now. They are so vibrant and eye catching. I love them. The drawstring bag is not my cup of tea, but it is made of canvas and seems pretty dang sturdy, instead of that mesh material that these usually are. The shirt has the big Mystery Inc. design on the back, with the cool Mystery Inc. gang led by Scooby on the front. The shirts offered are all 100% cotton and run you $28, while the socks are $9 and the bag $19.

Overall this is some high-quality stuff. If you want to make a purchase this weekend and help out the cause, do so in store or online right here.

Starburns Announces Fantasmagoria, a Horror Anthology with a Mission of Diversity, Inspired by Mexican Folklore

Fledgling comic book publisher Starburns Industries Press has announced a new quarterly horror anthology hitting stores for the first time in September, inspired by folklore from Mexico and the American Southwest. The comic will be written by James Fino and Eric M. Esquivel with artists including Fernando Pinto and Julieta Colás, and has the self-ascribed mission to “give new voices and untold stories a platform to thrive in comics.”

Said Esquivel in the press release:

If I see one more comic book about a vampire or a Frankenstein on the comic shop shelves, I am going to blow my brains out all over the Funko Pops display. Our world is huge, and violent, and weird. There are as many myths out there as there are different kinds of people. To me it’s a crime, culturally, to keep going back to the same Eastern European guys over and over and over again.

Inspired by the unforgettable work of folks like Rod Serling, William Gaines, and Al Feldstein, FANTASMAGORIA is basically what would happen if you spilled your salsa on an issue of Tales From The Crypt and it somehow got infinitely more awesome!

Added Fino:

Even before growing up on a supernatural diet of Rod Serling’s Night Gallery, Kolchak The Night Stalker, and Stephen King novels, being raised in El Paso, Texas, exposed me to some of the most fantastic ‘true’ horror stories from Texas, Mexico, and New Mexico. They filled my dreams and imagination and now I’m excited to team up with Eric and Simon to share our community’s creepy myths and legends through Fantasmagoria!

And Starburns Industries Press President Simon Oré said:

As a child, growing up in Acapulco, there were so many stories that shaped my love of horror. The thrill of being scared delighted me and that feeling was a huge part of my childhood. When Eric and James told me they wanted to do this, it’s like they were pitching the 10 year old version of me my ideal book.

Eric and James are two of my favorite people, they have an incredible grasp of storytelling and an unending well of urban legend knowledge. Giving them a platform that allows them to tell all the stories from our shared culture seemed like a no-brainer.

As a proud member of Trump’s America I know there ain’t nothing scarier than Messicans – so I figured stories ‘bout them would be good for makin’ folks scared.”

The press release describes Fantasmagoria as “a declaration of intent” from the publisher, “Touching on the issues of racism and aggression in the news with the kind of humor fans of Starburns have come to expect.” The press release notes:

Humor aside, Fantasmagoria comes at an important time in American history and is a declaration of intent from the new publisher. Not only will this be a humor-horror anthology inspired by the great classic comics of the 20th Century, it is Starburns Industries Press stating publicly that the stories, creators, and even executives behind this company come from diverse backgrounds and plan to support diverse voices with titles like Fantasmagoria.

Look for Fantasmagoria #1 in stores in September, and place your preorders now.

LEGO SDCC Minifig Exclusives Include Unikitty, Black Lightning, and Cowboy Deadpool

LEGO has now revealed all three of their exclusive minifigs that will be available at SDCC this year. This year there is a Marvel exclusive, DC Comics exclusive, and a LEGO Movie 2 minifig. All three will be for sale at their booth on the show floor, and new this year, you have to sign up for times by logging into your SDCC account and clicking the exclusives tab and try to win an online lottery. I like this — it makes it fair for everyone, and you don’t have to sleep outside. Hard to argue against that.

LEGO SDCC Unikitty Minifig Exlcusive Boxed Welcome to the wonderful world of Pokémon Pop! Funko is proud to announce the first-ever Pokémon Pop! This Target exclusive Pikachu Pop! is coming in July! Don’t miss out on adding this iconic Electric-type Pokémon to your Pop! favorites! Welcome to the wonderful world of Pokémon Pop! Funko is proud to announce the first-ever Pokémon Pop! LEGO Movie 2 Apocalypseburg Unikitty Minifig

LEGO SDCC Black Lightning Minifig 2 LEGO SDCC Black Lightning Minifig 1

DC Super Heroes Black Lightning Minifig

LEGO SDCC Cowboy Deadpool Minifig 2 LEGO SDCC Cowboy Deadpool Minifig

Marvel Super Heroes Cowboy Deadpool Minifig

All three of these are pretty sweet. That Deadpool is going to be a tough get — look for that to skyrocket on the aftermarket. Ditto to Black Lightning, I may be wrong, but I believe that is his first minifig (i’m sure one of you will let me know). The wild card here is the Unikitty. It is the first minifig from The LEGO Movie 2, so that means collectors will want it, but of the three I would think that will be the least popular.

Remember: today is the last day you can sign up for the exclusives lotteries. Be sure to log in and try your luck!
