Unboxing the Funko Smuggler’s Bounty Revenge of the Sith Star Wars Box

Star Wars fans, we had a good run with these Smuggler’s Bounty boxes. The bi-monthy subscription boxes were a treat to get in the mail. Some were better than others, but they always put a smile on my face every time I opened one. With the Funko subscription boxes coming to an end and transitioning into retailer exclusives, it was a sad time opening this last one. We do not know yet where we will be able to find boxes going forward, but hopefully it is a retailer who actually gets things out and prominently displayed (please for the love of the Emperor not Walmart). With that being said, let’s look at the last subscription box.

This boxes theme was Revenge of the Sith, and I could not be more excited. Criminally underrated, it is the best of the prequels and I could not wait to see what they came up with for this last box. The cold eyes of Anakin Skywalker greet you when you pick up the box.

Yay, we got a patch and a pin! I have missed getting these in the boxes from Star Wars and Marvel, they really lost something when they didn’t have these. The Anakin patch is sweet, I really like the look having half Ani, half Vader. Ditto the Mace Windu pin, always looking so untrusting. The Commander Cody Order 66 luggage tag is a coll throw in as well, very strudy and should hold up for a long time.

The Palpatine Mystery Mini is the highlight of the box for me. That is not to say the Pop set is a disappointment, but we will get to that in a second. From the lightning at his fingertips to the perfectly sculpted robes, this mini is a home run. I was hoping for some Palpatine love in this Star Wars box, and I am not sad about the direction they took.

Finally, the final Smuggler’s Bounty Star Wars Pop is a Movie Moment for the ages. The epic duel on Mustafar between obi-Wan and a fallen Anakin is recreated in Pop form. My only real complaint here is that Anakin has the higher ground! Other than that, both Pops look fantastic. I love Ani’s Sith eyes, this may be the angriest Pop we will ever get. The platform base sitting on lava looks awesome, and really captures the mood of that fateful duel. this is a great addition to any Star Wars collection, even if you don’t collect Funko.

We do not yet know when we will find out where Smuggler’s Bounty will continue, but we will let you know when they announce it. Until then, information on all Funko boxes can be found right here.

Funko Round-Up: Prince, Horror 5 Star, Geoffery Lives, and Mega Man!

Marvel’s Runaways Gets a Wave of Funko Pops… with One Huge Omission

Marvel’s Runaways fans: finally, we can collect our favorite teens! Funko has revealed an entire wave of Pops dedicated to the Hulu TV show versions of the kiddos, and they could not be cuter. Releasing this summer (which means this month since its August), all six kids from the show are here in all their glory. BUT… there is a glaring omission here that will earn a wag of the finger.

Marvel’s runaway teenage Super Heroes are getting the Pop! Vinyl treatment, which might not erase the sting of discovering that their parents are Super Villains, but it’s pretty cool nonetheless. Nico, Alex, Karolina, Gert, Molly and Chase will bring style, sass and a smorgasbord of Super Hero abilities to your collection. Nico comes with the Staff of One, Gert is armed with her signature riot grrrl style and Chase is armed with his Fistigons and ready to fight.

These all look fantastic. Finally I can add Nico to my Funko collection — she has been one of my favorites since the day she was introduced. Molly looks adorable — and somehow they captured Alex and his douchiness. I am a little surprised we aren’t getting any exclusives or chase versions, like an all-rainbow Karolina, but I am more surprised by who is not here at all.

WHERE IS OLD LACE?!?!

Why oh why would you not make Old Lace? That makes zero sense. They have dinos available in other lines! This is a terrible mistake and makes me really sad. The team just doesn’t feel complete without Old Lace, and hopefully they come to their senses and make one.

You can preorder the rest of the team right here.

Marvel Studios 10th Anniversary Funko Pint Size Heroes Hit Stores This Fall

Marvel Studios is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, in case you haven’t heard. Funko has already produced quite a bit of product to help with the celebration, but this might be the best yet. A new wave of Pint Size Heroes will be hitting stores this fall, and they look incredible.

Even the most ferocious of Marvel Super Heroes and
Super Villains are adorable as Pint Size Heroes.
Bringing previously unachievable levels of charm, hi-tech suits
and superhuman abilities to any collection, these Pint Size Heroes are
available with a 1-in-12 rarity. Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, Loki,
Doctor Strange, Red Skull, Shuri, Thanos, Black Widow, Hela and Thor are
ready to battle over the fate of the universe at a shelf near you.

As a huge fan of Pint Size Heroes, I want all of these. Interesting to see which films are represented here, with Thor: Ragnarok getting a lot of love. That Thanos is awesome, I really like the Doctor Strange, and maybe the best-looking one of all is the Shuri! Cool to see MCU versions of Captain America and Red Skull here too — we only got their comic versions in a previous Marvel Collectors Corps box.

My only problem is that there is not enough! We need, like, 87 waves of these so we can get one for each character that has ever appeared in a Marvel Studios film. I was really surprised we didn’t get a Infinity War wave earlier this year, so get to it, Funko! We need tons and tons more Pint Size Heroes!

You can preorder these here. If you get a case you are guaranteed to get two full waves! You can share with a friend.

Horror Icons Go to the Savage World from Funko in September

Savage World, a new line of figures coming soon from Funko, are done in the style of Mattel’s old Masters of the Universe figures. Standing at 5.5 inches tall and muscular bodies, they feature around six points of articulation and accessories. They released Mortal Kombat figures in this style already, and now we get something great for all of us Monster Kid collectors out there: horror icons!

Look, I will be the first to admit that these are not for everyone. I got to see prototypes of these and others that may be coming soon (Thundercats!), and I think that they are pretty awesome. Then again, I also love the old MOTU line, so Savage World is right up my alley.

All five look great, with awesome sculpts and neat winks and nods to the characters’ classic looks. My favorite is Michael Myers, but I also really like the Jason and Leatherface ones quite a bit. Thankfully they did not do a Chucky, because I can think of nothing more frightening than a giant, muscular Chucky chasing me around — and that is nightmare fuel I do not need.

These will be available in stores in september, just in time for Halloween displays to go up! You can preorder some for yourself already here.
