Unboxing the DC Legion of Collectors Green Lantern Funko Box

Always leave them wanting more. For what may in fact be the final DC Legion of Collectors Funko box, they gave us the best one that they have done. The Green Lantern-themed box is one that fans and subscribers wanted almost from the start, and anyone who picked this one should be more than happy with its contents. There were a lot of possibilities with a Lantern box — which Corps would be represented? Which characters? Which Corps leaders? Would we get a fidget spinner?! Thankfully no on that last one. Let’s take a look at what we got.

The box, of course, is just like the others. I will say that I have always enjoyed the silhouette artwork they used for these the most of any of the boxes. I will miss that.

Once opened, you see that the only Corps really represented is the Green Lanterns. Nothing wrong with that at all; this is a Green Lantern box after all. The Lantern stress ball is okay — nothing too exciting there. I do like the shirt, even though John Stewart is not looking his best here. I wish it had been a Pop shirt.

Anyone who has ever read any of my Funko articles on here knows how much I love the Pint Size heroes. And these became two of my favorites as soon as I laid eyes on them. Sinestro looks incredible, and the Hal Jordan is adorable. They even have little rings on their hands. Even the packaging is great. I only wish we got more exclusive Pint Size in other boxes.

Which brings us to maybe the best Pop exclusive in any of their boxes. This Pop three-pack Ch’p, Guy Gardner, and Kilowog are three of the best-sculpted, best-looking Pops I have ever seen. Each one has very distinct looks — Ch’p with his tail, Guy with the lapels, and the entirety of his figure. Kilowog is one of my favorite Pops in my collection already. He was always one of my favorite Lanterns, but man, does he make a great Pop.

If this is the last DC box, then it is by far the best one just on the Pop alone. While I have not always liked every DC box, there were more hits than misses. Let us hope that the DC Legion of Collectors box is not gone forever and does in fact come to be a retailer exclusive.

Tom Holland is First Avenger to Deliver Toys to Kids as Part of the Marvel: The Universe Unites Campaign

Tom Holland surprised children at the LAC+USC Hospital in LA with the first of $1 million of toys donated to charity through the Marvel: The Universe Unites charity campaign today. Holland, Spider-Man for those who don’t know, showed up in an Amazon truck to give the kids toys donated by everyone’s favorite Pop vinyl figure company Funko.

Marvel’s Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland, made a surprise visit to LA County + USC Medical Center today to personally deliver the first of $1 million worth of toys donated by Funko to Starlight Children’s Foundation. Tom arrived in Amazon’s Treasure Truck to make the special delivery before spending time with children at the hospital.

The surprise is part of Marvel: The Universe Unites, an epic charity campaign combining the super powers of the cast of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War to help support children’s charities and count down to the launch of movie related products on March 3.

Tom commented, “These kids are real-life super heroes – it was an inspiring experience to spend some time with them and deliver the first batch of toys from Funko. I’m honored to be a part of such an incredible cast and to support this great campaign that aims to bring joy to the lives of hospitalized children and their families.”

The week-long event kicked off with a social media challenge for the stars of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War. Cast members received special toy care packages filled with new products celebrating their Marvel character to be donated to children’s hospitals. Their mission? To create a picture or video to reveal the new toys to fans and post on social media with the goal of collectively reaching a million likes. The Super Heroes moved at record speed with their #HeroActs posts and reached the goal in less than 24 hours, unlocking a $250,000 donation to Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Super Heroes lending their support in this campaign include:

Starting on March 3, Amazon will also be supporting the campaign with a special Amazon Wish List where donations will be directed to Starlight.

The campaign will culminate this Saturday and Sunday March 3rd and 4th when shopDisney.com and Disney stores in the U.S. will donate 10% of sales of all Marvel products to Make-A-Wish® to help grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi Gets a New Wave of Funko Pops

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will indeed be getting a second wave of Funko Pops this year. The film hits home on March 27th, some point after you can collect this wave of creatures and character updates for the always-expanding Star Wars Funko Pop line. There are some cuties here; Luke gets another Pop, more Porgs, and two new movie moments celebrating the most iconic scene from the film (no matter how you felt about it). Let’s take a look:

First, the Movie Moments. These two sets will honor the spectacular Throne Room scene from The Last Jedi when, for a brief moment, all was right in the galaxy and Kylo Ren and Rey fought side by side to take down Snoke and his Praetorian Guards. I love the little light bursts where the sabers and energy blades are meeting. Both of these will be must-buys.

funko pops star wars: the last jedi

After the movie moments, we get a six Pop wave of figures. The sad Porg is going to be popular, as will the Vulptex. That one is one of the cutest Star Wars creature Pops they have ever done. The Ahch-To caretaker is immortalized, along with resistance pilot C’ai Threnalli. Rose Tico’s brave sister Paige gets a Pop of her own, and finally a Force projection Luke Skywalker from the Battle of Crait rounds out the six. Man, is that Luke awesome. He should be in the brush-off-the-shoulder pose, but I digress.

There is no firm release date for this wave yet. There is also no info on whether any of these will be exclusive, but I don’t think that’s the case — they usually note that right away. I would say these would be out sometime in May/June before the summer convention season really takes off. Keep an eye here for preorders to go up.
